Lupine

March 5, 2008

A friend of mine from Northern California shared the following passage with me from his personal journal:

“I miss lupine time. God, I miss it so much. I miss the way dew catches
on the little wild leaves and hangs. Gravity doesn’t touch some things.
Some things were made in a better world and left behind to show us
which way to go.”

Lupine are beautiful purple wildflowers that resemble a delicate
iris.  He shared a photo of them with me that I quickly set as my
desktop background.

I loved the last sentence of my friend’s selection.  It resonated
with my own awe at nature’s aura.  When I am feeling troubled or
upset, I often step outside and look at the trees or the stars.
Their constancy and resoluteness calm me; they remind me that there is
a power and energy in this world that withstands all of the troubles
that humans create for ourselves, and this reminder brings me
peace.

Yes, some things were made in a better world and left behind to show us a better way.
